Introducing the ONI Kihannen, a denim like no other. This extraordinary green-cast indigo fabric, a style that has remained elusive for years, is now here, and it will be available almost exclusively at Redcast Heritage in limited quantities. This is a true gem for denim aficionados, marking a rare and exclusive opportunity.
Crafted with an ultra-low tension weave, the Kihannen fabric boasts an exceptional level of slub, a testament to Oishi-San's craftsmanship. This denim is highly irregular, both in texture and color, with thinner and thicker cotton threads artfully interwoven, resulting in a uniquely textured feel. It's worth noting that this fabric is meticulously woven in Japan at a century-old family-owned mill, upholding a legacy of quality and tradition.
The prominent white vertical slub yarns resemble heavy rain falling through a dark and dense fog, an effect achieved through the varying thickness of the deep indigo warp yarns. The color palette evokes the depths of the ocean, with significant variations in dark blue tones complemented by black and green speckles.
These jeans feature all the signature superior-quality ONI details, from the black copper hardware to the high-grade pocket bags and heavy-duty bar tacks, as well as a custom vegetable-tanned deerskin leather patch.
It comes in the ever-popular ONI 622 Relaxed Tapered cut, a design beloved by denim enthusiasts worldwide. This cut is characterized by a relaxed top block, providing comfort and ease of movement, while gracefully tapering from the knee down. It strikes the perfect balance between a relaxed fit and a modern silhouette, making it a versatile choice for those seeking both style and comfort in their denim.
These jeans have shrunk considerably during the one-wash process, so as a general rule, we recommend that you choose one or two sizes larger than your usual size. However, as always, we recommend checking the size chart first to find your perfect size. They are unsanforized but have undergone one wash, so there will be no further shrinkage. The waist will experience the typical stretching seen in ONI denim due to the low-tension weave, although not as much as the secret denim. Expect approximately 1 inch of stretching, probably a bit more if they are snug in the waist.
The legend of ONI is alive to this day. In recent years Oishi-San has devoted himself to experimenting with widely varying grammages, rough textures, different indigo dyeing techniques and novelty cuts while always maintaining a very limited production and wielding his experience in denim which now goes back more than 60 years.
